ADS-B/SBS

Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast
Surveillance and Broadcast Services

Regulus Group is proud to support the ADS-B program. ADS-B is one of the most important, underlying technologies in the FAA’s plan to transform air traffic control from the current radar-based system to a satellite-based system. It is bringing the precision and reliability of satellite-based surveillance to the nation’s skies. ADS-B uses GPS signals along with aircraft avionics to transmit the aircraft’s location to ground receivers. The ground receivers then transmit that information to controller screens and cockpit displays on aircraft equipped with ADS-B avionics. Here are photos of Regulus Group’s work on ADS-B and SBS.

The process for implementation follows:

Lead All Systems Engineering

  • Define system engineering activities, develop work products, resource allocation, and scheduling of activities to align correctly with program milestones and deliverables
  • Define and charter workgroups and engineering teams to perform key functions
  • Requirements management and validation, automation requirements, computer human interface requirements, backup strategy, separation standards, test and analysis tools definition and development, system and operational test, and interface requirements
  • Provide engineering expertise during acquisition process
  • Prepare requirements documents, specifications, statements of work, and review and assess vendor proposals for compliance with engineering specifications
  • Define system requirements models, validation methods, analysis methods
  • Develop the system architecture definitions, trade definitions, and alternatives
  • Conduct operational tests, safety hazard analyses, risk assessments and risk management programs
  • Prepare reliability, maintainability, availability (RMA) analyses for ADS-B systems

Program Management:

  • Provide program management support
  • Project planning, schedule development and analyses (including PERT and critical path)
  • Develop management briefings for stakeholders, industry representatives, aviation coalitions, Air Traffic Management Advisory Committees, and other management functions

Lead Communications:

  • Perform all functions relating to internal and external communications and public relations
  • Establish branding, coordinate FAA speakers for panels and briefings, prepare media releases and Congressional inquiry responses
