ASR-11

Airport Surveillance Radar – 11

Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR-11) is an integrated radar system deployed at terminal air traffic control sites. It interacts with both legacy and digital automation systems and provides weather service capabilities resulting in increased environmental awareness for both controllers and pilots.

Regulus Group was commended by FAA for their outstanding dedication and teamwork in the qualification, testing, readiness, deployment, and commissioning of this necessary upgrade to the National Airspace System.

The process for implementation follows:

Lead All Systems Engineering

  • Design review, requirements development and management, test and evaluation, integration, maintenance, training, second level engineering support, and logistics
  • Perform optimization of all FAA ASR-11 radar systems
  • Develop enhancements to improve surveillance system performance
  • Develop interface requirements and prepare interface control
  • Ensure Final Requirements Document (FRD) and operational requirements are met
  • Assessment of surveillance technologies as they are integrated into the NAS
  • Radar Toolbox: automated software tool for recording, reduction, and analysis of surveillance system performance data developed by Regulus Group, is the preferred optimization and analysis program used by both the FAA and the ASR-11 vendor

Human Factors Engineering

  • Evaluation and testing of terminal surveillance systems human computer interfaces, including all plans, reports and briefings

Air Traffic Control Expertise

  • Coordinate activities with air traffic management and operations personnel for technical interchange meetings, installation, transition and operational readiness demonstration
  • Support the planning of and conduct acquisition activities
  • Review and evaluation of design modification, interface, cost, schedule, and technical/programmatic documentation, and provide written analysis and recommendations
  • OMB Exhibit 300 reports preparation and updates
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) establishment and analysis
